Topic: Transiting between threads in an RP [Take 2]

Hey guys, the other "Transiting between threads in an RP" thread has been closed, and I wanted to make a suggestion, so, I made a new thread.

I've been having a little bit of trouble trying to keep up with the transitions.. and although the whole [continued in Bar Cydonia] etc, helps with the most recent posts, it doesn't help much for trying to catch up on the stories of folk.

So, my suggestion is, when transitioning, try to include the post numbers. For instance, if a Character is going from the Town Square to Bar Cydonia, he would write [Continued in Bar Cydonia, Post 35] or whatever number his post there will be, and then in his Bar post he would write [Continued from Town Square, Post 257] or whatever.

That way, we don't have to sift through six pages of posts in the Town Square to figure out when so and so walked through town, and which building he then ducked into, etc. etc.

Thoughts?

It's a great idea Grant, and not to downplay it at all, have you tried looking at the timestamps listed above the posts? They include date and time, so it shouldn't be too difficult I imagine.

I agree with you both. The timestamps provide a handy guide, but stating the post number would probably be even more easy to refer to.

I'm going to link this thread with the other transiting one.

Re: Transiting between threads in an RP [Take 2]

Grand idea. The only problem I can see with it is if a post prior gets deleted (such as a spam post, or a double post), then the count becomes incorrect. You also have to then post prior to the transition so you know what number you are (in the case someone posts around the same time as you).

Time stamps are forever, so I recommend using those as Robert suggested.

Agree with Jason and Robert here. Timestamps are forever.

Feel like I need a mug with that on now.

Wasn't there a song by Tina Turner or someone with those lyrics? #Timestamps are forever...# Was it on a Bond movie?

Re: Transiting between threads in an RP [Take 2]

(Thinking about Diamonds are Forever...) Oh man! Killer idea! How about an engagement ring with a timestamp embedded in it of when the guy (or girl...it happens!) proposed! And then another one on the wedding band for when they get married? AW! What a novel idea!

...you can't steal it! I'm totally using that!  lol

Re: Transiting between threads in an RP [Take 2]

My husband is kind enough to remind me a month, a week, and two days ahead of time. Sadly while I am AMAZING with show dates and such other dates get  bit fuzzy.

His Birthday is a funny one - is't the 30th of March and I always for some reason think it's the 1st so SURPRISE! here's a gift.  O wait, wrong day....wait a few weeks....SURPRISE here's another gift!

For me, transitioning between two threads usually looks like this:

Post where we talk about moving.

OOC: Action continues here insert link to my next post

PS: The above link isn't a real link, but normally I would go and type up a post in the next area. It gives the transition a very movie feel I think.
